History //
At the start of her life, Leila lived happily with her mother and two brothers in a small flat in the heart of the city. They never went outside, save for the walled-off roof and the dark balcony in the middle of the night, but they were happy. One day, a man came to the door, and he had a gun. Leila and her mother, who had been hiding under the couch in the bedroom, playing a game of keep away (Leila didn’t want a bath, but her mother insisted) heard the gunshots. Shot number one was followed by a scream from their human partner, and then four painful yelps from her brothers. Leila’s mother froze, telling her to hush or the man would get her. She stayed silent until the man had searched the room and left, swearing and cursing the wretched animals. That night, Leila’s mother took her out to the street for the first time, and together they crawled out under the Wall and left the city behind.
Personality //
Leila is quite humble and doesn't like to be the centre of attention. She gets very uncomfortable when all eyes are on her, and prefers to be hidden away in the background. She is shy and quite and has no intention of ever becoming an alpha. Quite the opposite, actually, as she's perfectly fine with letting other dogs push her around. She tends to distance herself from other dogs, though when she allows someone into her life (or, as is usually the case, someone forces their way into her life) she will stick to them like glue and let loose her fun loving and more outgoing side. Her goals in life aren't exceptionally amazing or interesting (much less ambitious), but she wants to settle down with her soul mate and raise several litters of puppies. And when those puppies are grown, she'd very much like them to have children so she can have grandchildren. She's a hopelessly traditional that way.
First Post //
The two month old pup squished herself further back under the couch. “But I don’t WANNA take a bath, mama!” she protested as her mother crawled under after her.
“I’m sorry darling but bathing, like fleas, is a necessary evil that no dog should go without,” her mother growled crossly, dragging herself father under the couch with difficulty. She wasn’t as small as she used to be, after all.
The front door creaked banged open, startling the Golden, who slammed her head into the roof of the couch. Leila laughed as her mother grumbled silent curses.
“Who in blazes could that be?” she asked. “We weren’t expecting anyone for lunch, were we Leila?” It was not very often that they had people over for lunch, but when it did happen she usually knew about it.
Leila listened pushed herself into the corner farthest away from her mother. “Betcha can’t get me here!” she taunted.
“Oh Leila, this is ridiculous! We have company for goodness sakes!” her mother protested.
Leila stuck her small tongue out at her – and a gunshot fired, followed by a scream. “What was that?!” she yelped.
Her mother surged forward, pouncing on her, covering her mouth as two more shots went off, followed by painful puppy yelps. Tears welled up in the big Golden’s eyes, though the puppy didn’t know why.
Leila was terrified, but she said nothing. She knew it would be too dangerous. Instead she waited for what seemed like days; she had no idea her whole world had just fallen apart.
